Neck Physiotherapy for Women in Clapham
Stiff, aching neck from your desk, feeding your baby or a bad night’s sleep? Pain or tingling down your arm? Olivia offers neck physiotherapy for women at our Clapham clinic.
Neck Conditions and Treatments
As part of our MSK physiotherapy for women, Olivia treats neck pain in Clapham, from a stiff or wry neck to a trapped nerve, whiplash and neck arthritis. The NHS says most neck pain only lasts a few weeks, and the right exercises and advice can help you recover sooner and stop it coming back.
Trapped Nerve in the Neck
Burning or shooting pain, pins and needles or numbness down your arm. Most people improve within about three months with the right treatment.
Whiplash
Neck pain, stiffness and headaches after a car accident, fall or sports injury. Keeping your neck moving helps you recover faster.
Neck Arthritis (Cervical Spondylosis)
Neck and shoulder pain or stiffness that comes and goes, common after 40. Exercise and posture work help you stay active.
Stiff Neck and Wry Neck
Woken up unable to turn your head? A stiff or wry neck usually settles within days, and treatment can ease the pain and spasm.
Neck and Shoulder Pain from Desk Work
Long hours at a laptop or on your phone can leave your neck and shoulders tight and sore. We look at your set-up, strength and habits.
Headaches from the Neck
Headaches that start at the back of the head or neck are often linked to neck stiffness and tension. Physiotherapy can reduce how often they happen.
Neck Pain in Pregnancy and After Birth
Feeding, carrying and lifting your baby put new strain on your neck and upper back. Olivia offers specialist postnatal physiotherapy.
Neck Pain in Menopause
Many women notice more joint and muscle aches around menopause, including in the neck. Our menopause physiotherapy helps you stay strong and active.

Neck Pain FAQs
- What conditions does neck physiotherapy treat?
Olivia treats neck pain and stiffness, wry neck, trapped nerves, whiplash, neck arthritis, headaches linked to the neck, and neck and shoulder pain from desk work, feeding or carrying your baby.
- Why see a female-focused physiotherapist for neck pain?
Pregnancy, feeding and carrying a baby, menopause and hypermobility can all affect your neck. Olivia looks at these alongside your posture, work and exercise so your treatment fits your life.
- Should I rest my neck or keep it moving?
Keep it moving. The NHS advises against neck collars and long periods of rest. Gentle movement and staying active usually help you recover faster.
- How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the cause and how long you have had symptoms. Many women feel better within a few sessions, and Olivia will give you exercises to keep the progress going at home.
- Do I need a referral from my GP?
No, you can book directly with Olivia without a referral.
- When should I get urgent help for neck pain?
Call 999 or go to A&E if you have a stiff neck with a high temperature, a rash, a severe headache or sensitivity to light. Get urgent medical help if you have weakness in your arms or legs, problems with balance or walking, or loss of bladder or bowel control.
What our patients say
What I’ve appreciated most is how comfortable and at ease she makes you feel. She is kind, understanding and non judgemental, which makes talking about things that can sometimes feel quite personal so much easier. She always takes the time to listen and explains everything clearly, and the exercises are tailored to what I feel comfortable with.
I’m really grateful for all her support and would definitely recommend Olivia to anyone looking for postnatal or pelvic floor support.
