Sports Physiotherapy for Women in Clapham
Knee pain when you run, a pulled hamstring, an ankle that keeps going over, or leaking when you jump? Olivia offers sports physiotherapy for active women at our Clapham clinic, to help you get back to training with confidence.
Sports Injuries We Treat
Olivia treats sports and exercise injuries in Clapham for women of all levels, from parkrun and netball to marathons, padel and the gym. As a women’s health physiotherapist, she also looks at things general sports physio can miss, such as your pelvic floor, returning to sport after a baby, and bone health. Treatment focuses on finding the cause, building strength and planning a safe return to your sport.
Running Injuries
Knee, shin, heel or hip pain when you run, from parkrun to marathons. We help you keep running where possible and build back up safely.
Swimming Injuries
Swimmer’s shoulder, neck stiffness and breaststroke knee. Strength and shoulder control help you get back in the pool.
Cycling Injuries
Knee, back, neck or hand pain from road riding, commuting or indoor cycling.
Triathlon Injuries
Niggles from juggling swim, bike and run training. We look at your whole training week.
Rugby Injuries
Knee, shoulder, ankle and neck injuries from tackles and twisting, with a safe return to contact.
Football Injuries
ACL, ankle, hamstring and groin injuries in women’s football, from five-a-side to league.
Golf Injuries
Back, elbow, wrist and shoulder pain from your swing, so you can play pain-free.
Tennis, Padel and Racket Sports
Tennis elbow, shoulder pain and calf strains from tennis, padel, squash and badminton.
Gym, CrossFit and Hyrox
Back, shoulder, knee and wrist pain from lifting and functional fitness, adapting your training while you recover.
Skiing and Snowboarding
Knee ligament, thumb and shoulder injuries from the slopes, plus pre-ski strength work.
Martial Arts and Boxing
Shoulder, knee, wrist and neck injuries from boxing, BJJ, Muay Thai and karate.
Sprained Ankle
One of the most common sports injuries. Balance and strength work helps you recover and reduces the chance of it happening again.
ACL and Knee Ligament Injuries
ACL injuries are more common in women. Olivia guides rehab before and after surgery, through to running and sport.
Hamstring, Calf and Groin Strains
A sudden pain or pull in your leg during sport. The right exercises help you recover and reduce the risk of it happening again.
Bone Stress Injuries
Pain that builds with running or impact could be a stress fracture. Low energy availability, also known as RED-S, can increase the risk.
Leaking During Exercise
Leaking when you run, jump or lift is common in active women, but it is treatable. NICE recommends pelvic floor muscle training.

Sports Physiotherapy FAQs
- What is sports physiotherapy?
Sports physiotherapy treats injuries from sport and exercise, from sprains and strains to overuse problems like tendinopathy, with a focus on getting you back to your sport safely.
- Why see a female-focused sports physiotherapist?
Some injuries, such as ACL tears, are more common in women, and pelvic floor health, pregnancy, low energy availability and bone health can all affect active women. Olivia takes these into account alongside your injury.
- Do I need to be an elite athlete?
Not at all. Olivia sees women of all levels, whether you run parkrun, play netball or padel, go to the gym or are training for a marathon.
- How soon after an injury should I see a physio?
For most sprains and strains, follow the NHS advice to protect, rest, ice, compress and elevate for the first 2 to 3 days. If it is not improving, or you are unsure how to get back to sport, book an assessment.
- What does a sports physiotherapy session involve?
A thorough assessment of your injury and how you move, then hands-on treatment, a strengthening programme and a clear plan for training load and returning to sport.
- Do I need a referral?
No, you can book directly with Olivia without a referral.
- When should I get urgent help for a sports injury?
Go to A&E if you heard a crack, a joint or bone looks out of shape, you cannot put any weight on your leg, or your foot or hand is numb or changes colour.
What our patients say
What I’ve appreciated most is how comfortable and at ease she makes you feel. She is kind, understanding and non judgemental, which makes talking about things that can sometimes feel quite personal so much easier. She always takes the time to listen and explains everything clearly, and the exercises are tailored to what I feel comfortable with.
I’m really grateful for all her support and would definitely recommend Olivia to anyone looking for postnatal or pelvic floor support.
