Foot and Ankle Physiotherapy for Women in Clapham
Heel pain with your first steps in the morning, an ankle that keeps going over, or a sore Achilles or shins when you run? Olivia offers foot and ankle physiotherapy for women at our Clapham clinic.
Foot and Ankle Conditions and Treatments
As part of our MSK physiotherapy for women, Olivia treats foot and ankle pain in Clapham, from plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinopathy to sprained ankles, shin splints and rehabilitation after a broken ankle.
Plantar Fasciitis (Heel Pain)
Pain under your heel or arch, worst with your first steps in the morning. Most common between 40 and 60, and stretching and the right footwear can help.
Achilles Tendinopathy
Pain and stiffness at the back of your heel or above it, often after increasing running or walking. A structured exercise programme is the key to recovery.
Sprained Ankle
Pain, swelling and bruising after going over on your ankle. Most sprains feel better within 2 weeks, and the right exercises help stop it happening again.
Shin Splints
Pain along the front of your shin during or after running, often when starting or increasing exercise. Physiotherapy helps you get back to running safely.
Broken Ankle Rehabilitation
Stiff, weak or swollen after your cast or boot comes off? Physiotherapy helps you get your foot and ankle moving and walking normally again.
Weak or Unstable Ankles
An ankle that feels wobbly or keeps giving way after a sprain. Balance and strength exercises help build stability and confidence.
Foot and Ankle Arthritis
Stiffness and pain in your ankle or big toe joint. NICE recommends exercise as a core treatment for osteoarthritis, tailored to you.
Getting Back to Running After Birth
Planning to run again after having a baby? Our postnatal return to running programme helps you build back up safely.

Foot and Ankle FAQs
- What conditions does foot and ankle physiotherapy treat?
Olivia treats plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, sprained and unstable ankles, shin splints, foot and ankle arthritis and rehabilitation after a broken ankle.
- Why see a female-focused physiotherapist for foot and ankle pain?
Pregnancy, weight changes, menopause, footwear and returning to running after a baby can all affect your feet and ankles. Olivia takes your whole situation into account.
- Should I see a physiotherapist or a podiatrist?
Physiotherapists focus on exercise, strength and movement. Podiatrists specialise in feet, insoles and footwear. For many foot problems the two work well together, and Olivia will refer you on if you need insoles.
- Do I need a referral from my GP?
No, you can book directly with Olivia without a referral.
- How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the problem and how long you have had it. Tendon problems often take a few months of regular exercise, while many sprains improve within a few weeks.
- When should I get urgent help for a foot or ankle injury?
Go to A&E if you heard a crack or snap, your ankle is at an odd angle, you cannot put any weight on it, or your foot looks blue or white or feels numb.
What our patients say
What I’ve appreciated most is how comfortable and at ease she makes you feel. She is kind, understanding and non judgemental, which makes talking about things that can sometimes feel quite personal so much easier. She always takes the time to listen and explains everything clearly, and the exercises are tailored to what I feel comfortable with.
I’m really grateful for all her support and would definitely recommend Olivia to anyone looking for postnatal or pelvic floor support.
