Whiplash Physiotherapy in Clapham
Neck pain, stiffness or headaches after a car accident, fall or sports injury? Whiplash can feel worrying, but most people recover well with the right support. Olivia offers thorough, unhurried care at our Clapham clinic.
Understanding Whiplash
As part of our neck physiotherapy for women, Olivia treats whiplash in Clapham, helping you ease pain, get your neck moving and get back to driving, work and exercise.
What Is Whiplash?
Whiplash is a neck injury caused by a sudden jolt that throws your head forwards, backwards or sideways. It is most common after a car accident, but can also follow a fall or sports injury.
Symptoms
According to the NHS, symptoms include neck pain and stiffness, difficulty moving your head, headaches, and pain and muscle spasms in your shoulders and arms.
When Do Symptoms Start?
Symptoms can take several hours to appear after the injury, so it is common to feel fine at first and stiffer the next day.
How Long Does It Last?
The NHS says whiplash usually gets better within 2 to 3 months, although some people have symptoms for longer.
Keep Your Neck Moving
The NHS advises not to use a neck brace or collar and not to rest for long periods. Carrying on with daily activities helps you recover faster.
How Physiotherapy Helps
Olivia will help you:
- Ease pain and muscle spasm with gentle hands-on treatment
- Gradually restore neck movement
- Rebuild strength and control in your neck and shoulders
- Build your confidence to drive, work and exercise again
Headaches and Dizziness
Headaches are common after whiplash. Olivia will check whether your neck is contributing and, if needed, recommend you see your GP for further checks.
What Happens at Your First Appointment
Your first appointment lasts 60 minutes and takes place in a private room at our Clapham clinic. Olivia will:
- Talk through how the injury happened, your symptoms and how they affect daily life
- Assess your neck, upper back, shoulders and how you move
- Explain what she has found and agree a treatment plan with you
- Give you exercises and practical advice to start at home

What our patients say
What I’ve appreciated most is how comfortable and at ease she makes you feel. She is kind, understanding and non judgemental, which makes talking about things that can sometimes feel quite personal so much easier. She always takes the time to listen and explains everything clearly, and the exercises are tailored to what I feel comfortable with.
I’m really grateful for all her support and would definitely recommend Olivia to anyone looking for postnatal or pelvic floor support.
